Tonic Arts Network: Bringing the Outdoors in

Join our Tonic Arts team online to explore the benefits of bringing nature-based art, craft and design to healthcare settings, looking at best practice examples from NHS Lothian and beyond.
This network meeting is your opportunity to hear a bit more about how the natural world inspires and transforms healthcare environments.
Discuss the ways in which we can work with nature as inspiration, a source of materials and a physical link between our indoor and outdoor healthcare spaces. We’ll also provide suggestions of places to visit for inspiration and explore the evidence around the benefits these approaches bring to our health and wellbeing.
You will be able to share your experiences and explore how we can make the most of this creativity to enhance the NHS environment.
This is a space to celebrate successes, troubleshoot potential risks, and gain practical inspiration for future projects. Whether you’re a healthcare professional keen to enhance your environment, or simply curious about nature-based design, your contribution is vital, and this session is dedicated to supporting your growth.
Date: Wednesday, 9 September 2026
