Staff enjoying the Trolleydarity sensory adventure at the Western General

Welcome to Trolledarity’s Scratch n Sniff Staycation for the Discerning Static Traveller in partnership with the National Theatre of Scotland.

This innovative project, created by artists Shona Reppe and Alan Grieve, brings a unique sensory experience to patients, visitors, and staff. Imagine a journey where you don’t need to pack a suitcase, rush to catch a plane, or even leave your bed. Instead, you’ll embark on an immersive “micro-adventure” that transforms the everyday into the extraordinary—through the magic of sound and scent.

What to Expect

Participants are invited to stay exactly where they are, pop on a pair of headphones, scratch and sniff a specially designed, complimentary postcard, and let their senses transport them. From the scent of a luxurious spa to the crunch of snow underfoot, this experience offers a gentle escape and a moment of joy during a hospital stay or a busy shift.

Delivered by trolley to wards and waiting areas, these one-to-one artistic encounters are designed to spark curiosity, connection, and delight. It’s a reminder that care is more than clinical, it’s sensory, human, and about making meaningful moments.
